Petopia: Dog Daycare & Boarding Liability Waiver
1. General Warranty and Health
The Owner agrees to the following health and behavioural requirements for their dog:
- Vaccinations: The Owner certifies that the dog is current on all required vaccinations (DHP).
- Health & Behavior: The Owner warrants that the dog is in good health and has not displayed any signs of aggression or bitten any person or animal in the past.
2. Assumption of Risk (Communal Play)
The Owner acknowledges that Petopia operates a supervised, social environment where dogs interact with each other.
- Inherent Risks: The Owner understands that Petopia offers a “social” environment where dogs interact and play together. While supervised, the Owner acknowledges that dog behavior is unpredictable, and injuries (such as scratches, nips, or punctures) may occur during normal play.
- Release of Liability: The Owner voluntarily assumes all risks associated with the dog’s participation in group activities and hereby releases Petopia, its staff, and agents from any liability for injuries or ailments sustained during the stay, provided reasonable care was exercised by the facility.
3. Incident Management & Responsibility
Petopia reserves the right to take appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for all dogs and staff.
- Aggressive Behavior: If a dog becomes aggressive or poses a danger to others, Petopia reserves the right to separate the dog from the group.
- Liability for Damages: The Owner agrees to be solely responsible for any medical expenses or property damage caused by their dog’s aggressive or destructive behavior toward other dogs, staff, or the facility.
4. Emergency Medical Care
The Owner acknowledges that Petopia may need to take action in the event of a medical emergency.
- Immediate Action: In the event of a medical emergency or injury, Petopia will make every reasonable effort to contact the Owner first.
- Authorized Treatment: If the Owner cannot be reached, the Owner hereby authorizes Petopia to seek veterinary care at the nearest available clinic. The Owner agrees to assume full financial responsibility for all veterinary costs incurred.
